Why purse charms?

I created Cemí for us to elevate our everyday through small, intentional details. I’ve always believed accessories are the simplest forms of expression. The pieces we carry, clip on, and reach for on the daily should feel personal. Cemí exists to add a little something extra to what you already love.

The Lore Behind the Name

The Cemí name and brand is deeply influenced by Caribbean heritage, creativity, and resilience. As a Haitian American Female Founder, it also means carrying history, culture, and strength all at once. It means honoring where you come from while continuing to evolve.

The name Cemí comes from Taíno culture. A cemi represents a sacred object or spirit believed to hold power, protection, and personal significance. These objects weren’t just decorative, they were symbolic and carried with intention.
